GRAMBLING, La. -The Alabama State University volleyball team posted good numbers in all but the points column, dropping a SWAC match Tuesday to Grambling State University.
Alabama State (9-13, 1-3 SWAC) fell to the Tigers (12-7, 1-0 SWAC) in front of 475 fans at the Memorial Gym.
"There is no doubt that we got it done offensively tonight," said ASU head coach Sonia Price. "It shows in the numbers. But our defense hurt us tonight. We were out-dug 41-21 and that was the difference. Last week, we were on defensively. We have to be able to put both sides of the game together so we can move forward and keep getting better."
ASU hit .114 for the match with 22 kills. Junior Jessica Holt led the team with eight kills. Senior Shajuana Pina added six in the loss.
The Lady Hornets will remain on the road traveling to Dillard (3-7, 1-3 GCAC) Friday for a 7 p.m. match.
