Hornets Still Going Strong

Alabama State University's men's basketball team is holding onto its first-place position in the Southwestern Athletic Conference with its 76-71 victory over Alcorn State Monday night in Lorman, Miss. The victory extends the Hornets' streak of wins to seven.

 

Chief Kickingstallionsims and Andrew Hayles each scored 16 points in the win over the Alcorn State Braves, with Wesley Jones getting a double-double by scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

 

The Hornets led at the break by nine points and held off the Braves in the second half, including a rally led by Alcorn State's Jonathan Boyd in the final 22 seconds of the game.

 

ASU's Brandon Brooks was able to put 15 points on the board for Bama State and four points in the final seconds of the game to seal the Hornets' win over the Braves.
