MONTGOMERY -- The Alabama State University Athletic Department will hold its annual awards banquet Wednesday night in the Acadome.

The banquet, which begins at 6 p.m., will serve as the unofficial conclusion of the 2008-09 season for ASU Athletics. Student athletes will be recognized and honored for their successes both on and off the playing field. Participants from every squad will be recognized, along with various special award presentations including the John H. Jones Scholarship, Arthur D. Barnett Perserverance Award, Robert Whitfield Award for Excellence, G.H. Lockhart Award and the Josie Lawrence-Beth Jenkins Award.

In addition to dinner, attendees will be treated to comments from guest speaker Dr. Karyn Scissum Gunn, ASU provost and vice pesident for Academic Affairs. President William Harris also will share remarks with the student athletes.
