MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama State University men’s and women’s basketball teams host Southwestern Athletic Conference foe Texas Southern for a basketball doubleheader Saturday at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome. The Lady Hornets’ game tips off at 3 p.m. followed by the men’s contest at 5 p.m.

The Lady Hornets enter Saturday’s tilt at 6-10 overall, 3-4 in SWAC action and looking to snap their current three-game losing skid. The Lady Tigers (8-10, 5-2 SWAC) have won two straight and four of their last five contests.

On the men’s side, ASU (8-10, 5-2 SWAC) hopes to build on its current four-game winning streak. The Hornets are averaging 76 points per game over their last four games. Texas Southern (10-9, 6-1 SWAC) has also won its last four games and shares the lead atop of the conference standings with Jackson State.

The basketball doubleheader is part of ASU’s annual “Connection Day” festivities, which serves as an open house for hundreds of prospective students interested in attending Alabama State.

In addition, the ASU men’s basketball coaches will be wearing sneakers at the game as part of the annual NABC Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers Awareness Weekend. Basketball coaches around the country will trade in dress shoes for sneakers this weekend in attempt to bring attention to the importance of exercise and eating right in the fight against cancer.

Tickets for all ASU home games can be purchased at the Acadome ticket office. Both the men’s and women’s games will also be carried live on the radio on WVAS (90.7 FM).
