MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Alabama State University will commemorate the end of spring football practice with its annual Black and Gold Week. The week kicks off Monday, April 12, with the Mix and Mingle Ice Cream Social and the Coaches vs. Players basketball game. The celebration concludes Saturday, April 17, with the annual Hornet Fest (11 a.m.-1 p.m.) and Black and Gold football game at 2 p.m. at Hornet Stadium.

Hornet Fest will feature food, games and fun for the entire family. There will also be special appearances made by the Mighty Marching Hornets and the ASU cheerleaders.

Black and Gold Week includes the following events:

Monday - April 12
11 a.m. – 1 p.m.     Ice Cream Social (In front of Fred Shuttlesworth Dining Hall)
        >Open to ASU students, faculty and staff
6 p.m.              Basketball Game -- Senior Football Players vs. ASU Coaches (Lockhart Gym)
         >Open to ASU students, faculty, staff and fans

Tuesday - April 13
6 p.m.            Karaoke/Coaches vs. Players/Open Mic (Lockhart Gym)
           >Open to ASU students, faculty, staff and fans

Wednesday - April 14
NO EVENT SCHEDULED

Thursday-April 15
6 p.m.            Fraternity/Sorority “Stroll Off” Show and “Hornet Fever” Auction (Lockhart Gym)
            >Open to ASU students, faculty, staff and fans

Friday  - April 16
9 p.m. – 11p.m.     Black and Gold Party (live music)   -- Lockhart Gym
             >Open to ASU students

Saturday - April 17
11 a.m. – 1 p.m.    Hornet Fest
1 p.m.    Black and Gold Alumni Pre-Game
2 p.m.    Black and Gold Game
