ASU Football Begins Preparations for MVSU

Head Coach Reggie Barlow and the Hornets Prepare for MVSU
MONTGOMERY-Game week has arrived at Alabama State University as the Hornets football team begins its week of final preparations for the season-opener against Mississippi Valley State University.
The ASU coaching staff has implemented their schemes under a new offensive and defensive coordinator and the team continues to improve on its conditioning with the first game only six days away.
“We have seen a lot of improvement over the past week, but we still have a long way to go” head coach Reggie Barlow said. “We know our schemes and we continue to work on knowing who wants to compete and we are working on improving our conditioning every day.”
MVSU will provide the ASU coaching staff a challenging week of preparation since the Delta Devils have a new coaching staff.
“We really don't know a lot about MVSU right now,” Barlow said. “They have a new staff of coaches and we are trying to learn some things that were done in the past by these coaches at other places. So right now we are working a little more on what we do and will introduce the team to some things Valley may do beginning Monday.”
The Hornets took Sunday off, but will be back on the practice field Monday at 3 p.m. The opening game against MVSU is set for 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4 at the Cramton Bowl.
