MONTGOMERY-Coming off a late practice on Sunday combined with the heat and full pads for the first time seemed to take something out of the Alabama State University football team on their first day of two-a-days workouts.
“With it being the first day of full pads combined with the heat the players got a little tired in practice today,” head coach Reggie Barlow said. “We knew this was going to happen at some time, we now have to coach them up and get them to fight through it.”
The Hornets spent several periods working on red zone situational plays and down and distance plays.
“We always want to spend some time in what we call specialty plays,” Barlow said. “We looked at some situations where we could create mismatches in the red zone and take advantage of those.”
The Hornets will not be on the practice field tomorrow but will resume two-a-day sessions on Wednesday with 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. practices.
