HARTLEY, Del.—Alabama State University moved into 10th place in the weekly Historical Black College Football Championship Sub-Division football poll.
The Hornets' 34-6 win over Mississippi Valley State University help jump start the Hornets into the top-10 after not being ranked in the preseason poll.
The Hornets are the fourth team in the top 10 from the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Prairie View is the second ranked team in the poll and Grambling (4th), Texas Southern (7th) and Southern (9th) are also ranked in the poll. Alabama A&M and Arkansas-Pine Bluff are among the others receiving points.
ASU gathered 30 total points in the poll and trail ninth-ranked Southern by two points. ASU will host Arkansas-Pine Bluff this Saturday at 7 p.m.
