The Alabama State University football team maintained its place as the top-ranked team in Black College Football in several polls. The Hornets also moved into the FCS Sports Network/Fathead.com Top 25 for the first time since 2005.
 
The Sheridan Broadcasting Network (SBN) media poll, Heritage Sports Radio Network (HSRN) media poll, and Boxtorow.com media and coaches polls, and Urban Sports News all voted the Hornets number one.
 
Alabama State is on a four-game winning streak, and is 5-1 overall and 5-0 in the SWAC for the first time since 2005. The Hornets are ranked in the FCS Top 25, as the Hornets are ranked 24^th in the poll.
 
The Hornets will host SWAC Western Division leader Prairie View A&M at 1 p.m. Saturday at Cramton Bowl.
