ASU Soccer falls in the Quarterfinals to UAPB 4-0

ALEXANDRIA, La. - The Alabama State soccer team fell 4-0 to the University of Arkansas Pine-Bluff in the quarterfinal round of the Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament on Thursday, November 3 at the Johnny Downs Soccer Center in Alexandria, La.

The Lady Lions wasted little time getting on the board as Reaghan Zilkie scored in the second minute (1:34) of the game. Silvia Fuentes and Molly Stone assisted on the play as UAPB took an early 1-0 lead.

ASU was able to keep UAPB in check the rest of the half, but the Lady Lions added three more goals in the second period to blow the game open.
Fuentes scored UAPB's second goal as she took a pass from Nicole Parks-Powell and firing a shot past freshman goalkeeper Kylee Hathaway in the 61st minute (60:25) to give the Lady Lions a 2-0 lead.

Five minutes later (65:36), Rachel Harker fired a laser shot from the top of the box just over a leaping Hathaway and under the crossbar into the back of the net for the Lady Lions' third goal.

Austen Keithley capped the scoring for UAPB with a goal in the 83rd minute (82:33). UAPB's Jade West and Emily Antoku combined with assists.

"We had great defensive efforts in the first period, holding UAPB to a 1-0 lead at halftime," ASU's head coach Jodie said. "We made mistakes defensively in the second period which cost us the game. Kylee showed great poise and she had a great game for us with all the shots that was fired at her today."

The Lady Hornets end its season with a record of 2-17-1 overall and 1-2-1 in SWAC play.
