Saturday, athletics at Alabama State will be a buzz. Literally.

A full day of activities for fans begins at 10:30 a.m. with Hornet Fest at Hornet Stadium. Live music, food, drinks and children's games will be provided free of charge to all in attendance. 

The on-field action will begin at 11 a.m. as former Hornet football players will return to play in an alumni flag football game. More than 30 past players are slated to be in attendance. 

“Being a guy that's from Montgomery, whenever the Black and Gold Game was held, it was always fun as a kid to come and be a part of it,” Hornets' head football Coach Reggie Barlow said. “It's always fun for the kids and fans.  This game is more for them. We want to come out and put on a good showing. It's always exciting to be a part of this game. We'll have a lot of fans here, and the players' parents get a chance to come as well as our signees.” 

At 2 p.m., the current Hornets' football team will officially end spring practice with the Black and Gold game. 

Across campus at 1 p.m., the baseball Hornets will face Grambling in a doubleheader at the ASU Baseball Complex. Tickets for baseball are $5 for adults and $3 for children under 12. 

The Hornets will look to get back on track after dropping mid-week games at Georgia State and Tuskegee. 

“These games will be a great challenge for the team because we are playing the 2010 SWAC Baseball Champions,” Hornets' head baseball coach Larry Watkins said.  “This will also give us an opportunity to see a team from the West Division, so when we go to the SWAC Tournament, we can see what we will be up against.”
