Football Practice Report - Aug. 23

The Alabama State University football team had a late morning practice session at Hornet Stadium Tuesday.

After a sluggish workout on Monday, head coach Reggie Barlow got what he wanted from his team today.

“It was really fast paced,” Barlow said. “We talked to the coaches in meetings about the conditions – God blessed us in that it wasn't as hot – but we knew it would be hot. We got them going from stretching and they came out with better tempo and everything was going fast. I liked that.”

The faster tempo and pace led to better execution in the 90+ minute practice.

“I thought the execution was good,” Barlow said.  “I thought in all three areas offensively, defensively and special teams had good sessions, especially on punt returns. There's a few things we need to correct in each area and continue to fight through fatigue, which can lead to poor technique at times. Overall, I was pleased with our work today.”

Alabama State returns to practice at 3 p.m. Wednesday.
