The Alabama State University football team continued its preparation for Saturday's game at Mississippi Valley State with a two-hour night practice at Hornet Stadium.
The night time workout was again highly energized, similar to the prime time practices the Hornets held earlier this month. With the season opener days away, and Tuesday's practice being a major installation day of the game plan, ractice was very business-like and crisp.
“I liked how we practiced tonight,” head coach Reggie Barlow said. “I was really encouraged with the excitement, energy and the pace in which the guys practiced. If we're going to have a chance to compete against a really good Mississippi Valley State team, we're going to have to have two or three more practices this week like this. I liked how our leaders came out early and made sure everyone practiced at a high tempo.”
The Hornets will practice again under the lights Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., a schedule that may become the norm this season.
“We talk to the players a lot about time management and making sure they are getting their homework done during the day,” Barlow said. “It's something we have to. Academics comes first and a lot these guys have classes in the afternoon. This gives us an opportunity to have everyone here.”
