Hornets Back to the Basics

The Alabama State University football team went back to the basics to prepare for its upcoming showdown on Saturday, October 27 with in-state and Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) foe Alabama A&M Wednesday afternoon.

“Practice went well today,” head coach Reggie Barlow said. “When you have an off week like this one, you're not really watching to see who's focused but you watch to see who really loves the game of football and who wants to win the most. It's always interesting to watch guys who are competing and trying to get better each day.”

The Hornets (4-3 overall, 4-2 SWAC) focused hard on the fundamentals such as blocking techniques, hole assignments, catching the football, and their accuracy throwing the football.

“We're still stressing tackling, depth on our routes and just the simple things that will make a football team fundamentally sound,” said Barlow.

Alabama State is idled this weekend, but will practice again Thursday at 11 a.m. at Hornets Stadium on the Campus of ASU.
