Bobby Wenzig have been named to the Inside the HBCU Huddle/College Sporting News All-American Team.
Crowell (5-11, 190, SO, Columbus, Ga.), who was also named as the Newcomer of the Year, ranked third in the SWAC with 842 yards and led the league with a career-best 15 touchdowns. While catching 11 passes for 95 yards, Crowell posted four 100-yard rushing games, including a career-high 149 yards against Texas Southern. Crowell scored at least one touchdown in a game 10 times, including five two-touchdown games. Crowell was a three-time winner of the SWAC Newcomer of the Week Award. He was named first team All-SWAC, the league's Newcomer of the Year, and an HBCU All-American by Boxtorow.com.
Jones (6-7, 320, SR, Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.) was named to his fifth All-America team this offseason, along with honors from The Sports Network, American Football Coaches Association, the Associated Press, and Boxtorow.com. In 2012, the three-time All-SWAC selection helped the Hornets gain more than 400 yards four times and score at least 30 points in six consecutive games. Alabama State rushed for more than 2,000 yards this season with a conference-best 31 rushing touchdowns.
Riley (6-2, 208, SR, Wetumkpa, Ala.), adds another All-America honor to his historic career. Earlier this offseason, he was named to the Boxtorow HBCU All-America team for the second time, is a three-time first-team All-SWAC, three-time FCS and two-time AP FCS All-America selection, completed his stellar career as Alabama State's career leader in both interceptions (21) and interception return yards (348). Riley, who led or tied for the conference lead in interceptions each of the final three years, finished his career with 231 tackles (145 solo) with four forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. He also averaged 22.3 yards on 15 kick returns and 7.5 yards on 28 punt returns during his career.
Jones will play in the Raycom College Football All-Star Classic in Montgomery at 2 p.m. CT, with the game televised live on CBS College Sports Network. Riley will play in the East-West Shrine Game in Orlando, Fla. with the game shown live on NFL Network at 3 p.m. CT. Both games will be played Saturday, January 19.
Wenzig (6-2, 185, JR, San Diego, Calif.) led the SWAC and ranked third in the nation in punting, posting career highs in punting average (45.6 yards), punts of at least 50 yards (20), and punts downed inside the 20 (24). Wenzig was a six-time SWAC Special Teams Player of the Week winner and a one-time National Special Teams Player of the Week honoree, had a game average of at least 46.0 yards per punt six times, and also had one rush for 14 yards leading to game-winning touchdown at Grambling State. Wenzig is a two-time All-SWAC recipient, and earned first-team honors this season, and has also been named to the Sports Network, AFCA, and AP FCS All-America teams, as well as the Boxtorow.com HBCU All-America team.
