The Alabama State University women's and men's golf teams continue to prepare for the spring portion of the 2011-12 schedule.
The teams have continued to put in work at the practice facility at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course in Prattville. The women's team will open the spring season two weeks from now in the South Alabama Invitational in Mobile. The men's teams will open play March 12-13 in Butler's North/South Invitational in Jacksonville Beach, Fla.
“We have to significantly improve in a few key areas,” head golf coach
Dr. Gary Grandison said. “I like the effort within our preparation but we must continue to improve around the greens to compete at a high level.”
The women's team will also compete at the Butler's North/South Invitational in mid-March and in the Troy Invitational April 9-10 before entering the championship portion of the schedule. The Lady Hornets will play in the SWAC Championship April 23-24 in Alexandria, the Women's Collegiate Golf Classic in Atlanta, Ga. April 27-29 and the PGA Minority Championship May 20-13 in Port St. Lucie Florida.
The men's team will compete in the Florida A&M Invitational March 19-20 and April 9-10 in the Braveheart Classic and Beaumont, Calif. before championship play in the SWAC Championship and the PGA Minority Championship.
