Alabama State University Women's Basketball team will host cross town rival Faulkner University in an exhibition match, on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome. The game will be free and open to the fans.

"I look forward to playing Faulkner," said Head Coach Freda Freeman Jackson. "They are always competitive and they give us a tough fight when they play us. I am especially excited to show our fans the type of team that we have this season."

The Lady Hornets will be led by senior
Quentori Alford. Alford was picked as the preseason Southwestern Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year and 1
st team All-SWAC for the 2013-14 season. She finished last season scoring 8.5 points per game and totaling 44 blocks on the season.

Kierra Paige led the charge last season averaging 8.7 ppg and 68 assists. Alabama State will return nine players for the 2013-14 season. Along with Paige and Alford, teammates senior
Nakiya Smith who averaged 8.5 ppg and junior
Danielle Gazaway which averaged 8.3 points per game will assist in the scoring area. Â

"It's always good when you can return a nucleus of talented players, "Freeman-Jackson said. "It's even better when you have nine other talented players to add to the nucleus. The ladies have been working really hard and I am excited to see them play against Faulkner tomorrow. They are jellying and I like the leadership approach that the upperclassmen have taken."Â

Christina Hayes is Faulkner's leading scoring, she is averaging 10 points per game through three games that the Eagles have already played this season. She is also averaging 8.5 rebounds per game. Faulkner will be entering the game 2-1.Â
