With fall work-outs drawing to close, head coach
Mervyl Melendez and the Alabama State University Hornets baseball team will hold a best of five game series at the Wheeler –Watkins Baseball Complex.
"We're looking forward to concluding our fall practice with the Black and Gold World Series. It should be a very competitive series," head coach
Mervyl Melendez said. "We're happy where we are so far. Barring a few injuries, we've had a very productive fall."
Taking over the role of coach for the black squad will be
Leo Rojas, and sitting at the helm for the gold squad will be
Anthony Ricciardi. Both Rojas and Riccardi, who were former hornet baseball players, are graduate assistants with the Hornets baseball team.
"I honestly want to see how the guys compete when there's something on the line," Melendez said. "We've been able to evaluate how well the guys execute; this series will be a measurement of their competitiveness."
The first game of this series is scheduled for Monday, with the first pitch set for 4 pm. Game 2 is slated for Tuesday with a 3 pm start time, Game 3 on Wednesday will start at 4 pm. Games 4 and 5 will be held on Thursday and Friday at 5:30 pm, if necessary.
