About a dozen Alabama State football players participated in a home rebuilding project in west Montgomery Saturday morning.

Special teams coordinator/defensive ends coach John Hendrick and Hornet players did painting, outdoor repair and yard clean up in the Washington Park neighborhood to help make a difference for a future home owner.

The initiative is organized by House To House, a Christian mentoring ministry in Montgomery. Founded in 2009 as a part of Common Ground Montgomery, a youth development ministry, House to House began by building relationships with the parents of neighborhood youth. Hearing about the need for better housing, House to House purchased and renovated abandoned homes.
