Hornets To Compete In Tennessee State Tourney

The Alabama State men's golf team will have its final tuneup before next week's SWAC Tournament by playing in the Big Blue Invitational in Nashville, hosted by Tennessee State.

The Hornets are one of 14 teams scheduled to participate, along with host Tennessee State, Belmont, and Southern Illinois among others. The 54-hole event on the President's Reserve Course at Hermitage Golf Club begins at 8 a.m. both days. The teams will play 36 holes Monday and 18 Tuesday on the par 72, 7,157-yard course.

Alabama State is coming off a third-place finish in the Florida A&M Invitational and winning the Alabama A&M Invitational over four consecutive days three weeks ago. This is the final event before traveling to Alexandria, La. in looking to win back-to-back titles in the SWAC Championship April 22-24 at Oak Wing Golf Course.

“Our guys seemed poised to play well,” head coach Dr. Gary Grandison said. “They have conditioned well, so they should have no problem playing 36 holes Monday.”
