Renda, Estrada Named to ABCA South Central All-Region Team

Alabama State pitcher T.J. Renda and outfielder Waldyvan Estrada were named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) South Central All-Region team, announced Saturday.
 
Renda (6-0, 200, SO, Orlando, Fla.) was named to the ABCA First Team after earning first-team All-SWAC honors and the SWAC's Pitcher of the Year accolades, posting a 9-1 record with a 2.19 ERA. He was a two-time SWAC Player of the Week, and a Collegebaseballinsider.com Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week after throwing a season-opening no-hitter with one walk and a career-high 15 strikeouts vs. Chicago State. Renda led the SWAC in strikeouts, wins and ERA.
 
Estrada (5-11, 195, SO, Loiza, PR) was named to the ABCA Second team after earning second-team All-SWAC honors  and twice being named SWAC Player of the Week. Estrada finished the season batting .333 with seven home runs and 51 RBI. He finished the season tied for fifth in batting average, third in home runs, first in RBI, and sixth in both slugging percentage (.466) and on-base percentage (.417), and tied for second in total bases (95).
 
Alabama State finished with its best season in school history in 2013, winning a record 32 games and advancing to the SWAC Tournament semifinals for the first time.
