NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The National Ten Pin Coaches Association announced Wednesday that Alabama State University Women's bowling team ranks second nationally among all institutions for the highest team grade point average with a 3.69.
The NTCA recognized 23 institutions for having a team GPA over 3.2 for the 2012-13 academic year. The Alabama A&M University Bulldogs took first place for the second consecutive season by compiling an impressive 3.8.
“I am extremely proud of the academic success of the ladies,” said head coach
Andrew Chatmon. “It has been a source of pride for them. They also won the small team women's academic award for the ASU Athletic Department this year. They were very close and were very determined this year. Being No. 2 in the nation was an added result of the hard work that we have put in this year, because we place an extremely high focus on our academics throughout the year.”
