Wenzig Adds To Preseason Honors

Alabama State punter Bobby Wenzig added to his 2013 preseason honors as he was named to the Sports Network FCS Preseason All-American Team and to the College Football Performance Awards punter watch list.
 
Wenzig (6-2, 180, Sr.; San Diego, Ca.) was named second-team preseason All-America, coming off a 2012 season in which he averaged 45.6 yards on 61 punts, with a long of 67, with 24 punts of at least 50 yards and 24 punts downed inside the 20-yard line. In six games last season, Wenzig averaged at least 46 yards per punt, including two contests where he posted a game average of at least 50 yards per attempt.  Also the Hornets' place kicker in scoring 62 points last season, Wenzig had at least one 50+ yard punt in nine of 11 games last season.
 
Earlier this offseason, Wenzig was named to the CFPA place kicker watch list.

All CFPA recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams. All players are eligible for awards at their respective positions; players are not preemptively eliminated from consideration. The winner will be announced January 8, 2014.
