Renda Named Northwoods League All Star

Alabama State pitcher T.J. Renda has been named to the Northwoods Baseball League All-Star team.

Renda (6-0, 200, SO, Orlando, Fla.) has a 4-0 record with a 2.66 ERA for the first-place Waterloo (Iowa) Bucks, who have the best record in the league at 9-1. Renda, one of three Bucks on the North Division All-Star team, is tied for second in the league in wins.

This past season, Renda was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) first team after earning first-team All-SWAC honors and the SWAC's Pitcher of the Year accolades, posting a 9-1 record with a 2.19 ERA. He was a two-time SWAC Player of the Week, and a Collegebaseballinsider.com Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week after throwing a season-opening no-hitter with one walk and a career-high 15 strikeouts vs. Chicago State. Renda led the SWAC in strikeouts, wins and ERA.

Alabama State finished with its best season in school history in 2013, winning a record 32 games and advancing to the SWAC Tournament semifinals for the first time.
