The Alabama State University men's and women's track and field programs are set to compete in the two-day Samford Multi & Invitational on Friday, February 7
th and Saturday, February 8
th in Birmingham, AL at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
This meet will feature teams and athletes from many conferences including host school Samford, Embry-Riddle, East Tennessee State University, Tennessee Chattanooga, Tulane, the Sun Belt's conference Georgia State, UL Lafayette, UL Monroe, Texas State and Troy, along with SWAC foes Alabama A&M, Southern, Prairie View and Arkansas Pine-Bluff among a variety of other schools.
Day one will begin with the men's and women's weight throw set to kick off at 9:30 a.m. and will conclude with the always exciting 5,000m run set to begin at 7:30 p.m. Day two will feature a variety of events throughout the day as the heptathlon 60m Hurdles will start things off at 9 a.m., the meet will conclude with the 4x400m relay set to start at 5:30p.m with the women.
"We're going up to Samford to get a couple people in events they haven't ran in yet," said Head Coach
Ritchie Beene." This will be a hectic meet as there will be a lot of teams competing, we will not run are athletes in many events but, they will be ready to compete to the best of ability in the events that they are in."
