ALEXANDRIA, La. – The SWAC Champion Alabama State golf teams look to defend its league titles in the conference championship tournament beginning Monday.

The 2011 and 2013 SWAC Champion Lady Hornets will compete Monday and Tuesday at Links On The Bayou Golf Course (par 72, 5,884 yards). The back-to-back SWAC Champion men's golf team will compete Monday-Wednesday at Oak Wing Golf Course (par 72, 7,043 yards).

The Lady Hornets posted five top three finishes, including three tournament wins in the ASU Fall Golf Classic, the Greater Alexandria Invitational, and the FAMU Spring Invitational. The men's team won five tournaments and had a one third-place finish among eight events this season.

"Our teams seem ready to compete," head coach Dr. Gary Grandison said. "We expect a challenge, but know what we have to do."

Each course has its own identity and will present unique challenges to the field.

"Links on the Bayou has an open layout that allows windy conditions to more influence play," Dr. Grandison said. "The men's course has a mixture of obstacles to influence play."
