The Southwestern Athletic Conference has released its list of All-Conference players, with ASU's
Meagan Dixon receiving Player and Hitter of the Year honors and
Kendall Core being named First Team All-SWAC third base.
"Meagan has worked hard day in and day out and deserves everything she has earned," Assistant Head Coach Alyssa Smoke said. "She's the type of player every coach dreams of. She works hard, encourages others to do so and readily listens and executes. She led the conference in virtually every category and will play any position you put her in."
Dixon, a senior from Moreno Valley, Calif., finished the regular season hitting a team high .456, with 52 hits, 12 doubles, two triples, 13 home runs, 12 walks, 14 stolen bases and 48 runs batted in. She closed out the regular season second in the SWAC in batting avg. (.456), first in slugging pct. (.946), runs scored (46), home runs (13), total bases (106) and runs batted in (48). Dixon is also ranked nationally in nine statistical categories, including runs per game where she is ranked 8
th, and slugging pct. where she is ranked 3
rd.
Core, a freshman from Benicia, Calif., closed out the regular season hitting .351, with 40 hits, 10 doubles, five home runs, 12 walks, 16 runs scored, and 26 runs batted in. She is currently tied for fifth in the SWAC in doubles with 11 and is also ranked in the top 100 in the nation in in doubles per game.
