PRAIRIE VIEW, TX - The third time was the charm for the Alabama State women's soccer team. Â

On Sunday,
Ariela Lewis scored twice including the game-winner as the Lady Hornets defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff 2-1 to claim the school's first SWAC soccer championship. Â

ASU (11-9-1) had positioned themselves into the title match in three of the four previous seasons (2013 and 2015), but 2016 proved to be their year. Â

The Lady Hornets caught fire in the second half of the season and ran their unbeaten streak to 10 consecutive matches (9-0-1) dating back to Oct. 7.

It knocked off No. 6 Jackson State 1-0 on Thursday, followed with a 2-1 win against No. 2 Texas Southern on Friday and upended No. 4 UAPB on Sunday to be crowed championships.

The Lady Hornets will await Monday's NCAA Tournament selection show. Â It will be announced on NCAA.org at 3:30 p.m. CT to find out which opponent they'll draw along with the date and time.

It will either be this Friday, Saturday or Sunday depending upon how the bracket shapes up. Â
