Bama State Finishes 14th at Big Blue Golf Intercollegiate

SPRINGHILL, Tenn.
– The Alabama State University men's golf team fired a final round 302 Tuesday at the Big Blue Intercollegiate hosted by Tennessee State University at the par 70, 6,740-yard King's Creek Golf Club.

The Hornets earned a 14th-place finish with a 54-hole total of 912. Freshman Sam Strachan led the way for ASU finishing tied for 42nd at 223 following a round of 77 on Tuesday.

Senior Kyle Demeester finished with a three-round score of 225 (T-54th) followed by sophomores John Montgomery at 230 (T-68th) and Gregory Keafer with a 239 (82nd), who carded ASU's best final round of 73. Senior Brendan Prouse rounded out the Hornet lineup finishing 88th at 249. Freshman Michael Stringfellow, who played as an individual at the event, earned an 86th-place finish (242).

Murray State led wire-to-wire en route to capturing the team championship with a score of 856. John A. Logan CC finished tied with tournament host TSU at 862 for runner-up honors. Dayton (863) and Eastern Illinois (867) completed the top five finishers. Neal McCarty of SIU-Edwardsville earned the individual medalist title with a 204 tournament total.
