Glass Named Senior Associate AD for Student-Athlete Experience

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | Alabama State University Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Jason Cable announced the hiring of Shyandrea Glass as the department's new Senior Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Experience.

"I would like to thank Dr. Cable, Dr. Lavalais, and the committee for the opportunity to join the Hornet Family," Glass said. "I look forward to working with the student-athletes, administrators, and campus partners to continue the academic excellence standard and ensure that our student-athletes are equipped with the tools and the resources needed to be successful citizens within our community"

Cable is pleased to welcome Glass to Montgomery.

"We are excited to welcome Shyandrea to the BAMA STATE family," added Cable. "Shyandrea has a wealth of experience and a proven record of accomplishments across all Divisions. We place a strong value on the academic performance and development of our student-athletes. I look forward to Shyandrea taking us to the next level of success in this area."

Glass joins the staff as the Senior Associate Athletic Director for the Student-Athlete Experience. Glass comes to Alabama State from Louisiana Tech where she served as the Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Success Services. Before Louisiana Tech, Glass was at Utah Valley, where she served as Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Academic Services, Diversity & Inclusion.

Glass joined Utah Valley after having worked as the Assistant Athletic Director for Academics at Jackson State.  She spent six years at JSU, initially working as an academic counselor in 2015 before working her way to Coordinator of Student-Athlete Support Services, Assistant Athletic Director of Student-Athlete Support Services, and then her most recent position as the Assistant Athletic Director for Academics.
 
At JSU, Glass developed effective academic programming and related support services, which promoted and facilitated the academic success and progress of student-athletes toward their degree completion. She planned and executed life skills events for Jackson State's 300 student-athletes as well as overseeing and monitoring the academic progress of football, men's basketball, and baseball.
 
Glass earned her Bachelor's degree in Mass Communications in 2012 from Alcorn State University.  She received a Master's degree in Media and Communications from Arkansas State University in 2014 and then earned a second Master's degree in Sports Administration in 2015 from Belhaven University.
