Alabama State did not get a shot on goal and North Alabama scored twice in each half to defeat the Lady Hornets 4-0 Friday afternoon.
After being so close to victory in its last outing, ASU never got on track offensively against the Lady Lions. The Lady Hornets only shot was taken by Jonella Logan and UNA goalie Melanie Saegert earned the shutout without having to record a save.
UNA peppered shots at ASU goalie Candise Jacobs, who finished with 17 saves. But the Lady Lions spent most of the afternoon on the attack, which led to 13 shots on goal in the first half. Amy Lansom scored at the 23:05 mark and five minutes later, Emily Cotham follwed with another goal - both assisted by Alison Woodman - as UNA led 2-0 at the half.
Cotham added her second goal of the game 17 minutes into the second half and fiove minutes later, Erin Turner put the final tally on the board for UNA. Rhiannon Harrison assisted on both second half goals.
The Lady Hornets play again on Sept. 14 at the University of West Georgia.
