Final Stats
Kennesaw, Ga. -
Alabama State's season-long losing streak hit seven games Tuesday when two big innings doomed the Hornets in a 14-6 loss to Kennesaw State at Stillwell Stadium.
ASU (5-16) trailed 2-1 going into the fourth inning but two errors by shortstop Josh Froneberger helped open the floodgates to a six-run frame by the Owls. A three-run homer by Baker and a two-run double by Hudson off starter Jauquin Respress put Kennesaw comfortably in front.
The Owls, though, weren't done. Three ASU pitchers allowed six more runs - three earned - on only three hits in the seventh to make the score 14-1. Bama State's offense came alive in the last two innings, with two runs batted in each by Furquan Shamsud-Din and Anthony Hall, but it was too little, too late for the Hornets.
The Hornets will begin a critical, three-game Southwestern Athletic Conference series Friday at Alabama A&M. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
