Prairie View, Texas - After falling behind by 11 points at halftime, Alabama State rallied to take the lead against Prairie View. Still, the Panthers would not be denied their first SWAC win of the season as they beat ASU 50-47 Saturday night.

The Hornets shot 15% in the first half, making only four of 26 attempts, they managed a season low 15 points in the opening half.

Still, ASU - through tenacious defense - clawed back into the game. With 3:58 remaining in the game, Tremayne Moorer hit a jump shot to cap a 26-13 rally and tie the game at 41.

The Hornets actually took a two point lead when Richard Lott followed with a jump shot of his own. But ASU's cold shooting returned, and they made only one of their last six shots. Prairie View took advantage of ASU's foul trouble and scored 9 of their final 11 points from the free throw line.

Dustin Richmond led ASU with 14 points, and Moorer chipped in 12.

Brian Ezeh and Johnny Cobb each scored 13 for the Panthers (3-17, 1-7 SWAC).

The Hornets (5-14, 3-5 SWAC) try to rebound against Texas Southern Monday night at 7:30 p.m. The game will be carried live on WVAS FM 90.7 and the ASU Sports Network.
