Alabama State's 76-67 victory over GSU certainly wasn't pretty, but in the words of its' head coach "a win is a win."
Miguel Morton - in his first start of the year - got the Hornets off to a great start, scoring 10 quick points and helping to a 14-4 lead. The Hornets led 38-30 at the half, and avoided some of the pitfalls that have sunk them this season.
ASU shot 77% from the free throw line, after having struggled in critical situations in previous games. The Hornets also outrebounded an opponent for only the second time this year, producing a dominating 43-26 margin against Grambling.
Morton finished with 14 points. Andrew Hayles had a solid game with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Dustin Richmond and Moses Edun joined him in double figures with 11 and 10 points respectively.
Andre' Ratliff (24 points) and Anthony Williams (20 points) were the only players who reached double figures in scoring for the Tigers (3-6, 1-1 SWAC).
