Shooting Struggles Return in 55-51 ASU loss to UAPB

Despite a furious rally to close the game, the Alabama State Lady Hornets never fully recovered from a terrible first half of shooting as they fell to the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions 55-51.

In the twenty minutes, ASU only made 4 out of 25 shots (16%). The Lady Hornets found themselves in a 28-21 hole at halftime.

As ASU's shooting woes continued, UAPB pushed the lead to 14 with just 9:13 remaining. With the score 45-31, the Lady Hornets' defensive pressure ignited a 19-5 run to pull within two. ASU had several chances to tie the game, but committed a turnover and missed two shots and two free throws.

L'Teisha Holloway led ASU with 14 points and 8 rebounds. She also shot 12-12 from the free throw line to extend her streak to 31 straight made.

Assunta Fulgham had 13 points and five rebounds, while Shantae Robinson added 10 points and four assists.

The Lady Hornets (4-10, 1-2 SWAC) will travel to face Mississippi Valley State on Monday.
