Final Stats
Itta Bena, Miss. -
Despite senior point guard's Dustin Richmond's 21 points, Alabama State fell to Mississippi Valley State 59-57 Monday night.
ASU scored the first basket of the game but would never lead again. Strong Hornet defense kept the Hornets close, as ASU held Valley to only 35% of the game. But `Bama State committed 17 turnovers and struggled with shooting woes of their own, as they managed to make only 43% of their shots for the game.
The Hornets had three players in double figures with Richmond, Andrew Hayles (13 points) and Moses Edun (10 points).
Tychicus Snow was the only Delta Devil in double figures with 20 points. But a balanced Valley attack produced five other players with at least five points each.
The Hornets (4-11, 2-2 SWAC) visit "the Hill" on Saturday to clash with the Alabama A & M Bulldogs at 6 p.m.
