Alabama State completed an opening weekend sweep when they beat tournament host SMU 64-54 in the SMU Tip Off Classic in Dallas, Texas.

Senior forward Joel Bosh led the way with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Though the Hornets struggled as a team with their outside shooting, Bosh - playing in his hometown - drilled two of the four three pointers he attempted.

Brandon Gordon and Andrew Hayles had the second of back-to-back double figures scoring games adding 10 points each.

ASU dominated the first half, as they jumped out to 32-19 lead. SMU fought back but wasn't able to take the lead.

For the game, the Hornets outrebounded the Mustangs 41-22.

Bosh was named to the All-Classic team.
