Final Stats

Tallahassee, Fl. - - With beginning of SWAC competition two weeks away, Alabama State Freda Freeman-Jackson is squarely focused on preparing her extremely young squad for conference play.

Even after her team suffered a 94-52 win on Saturday, Freeman-Jackson still feels her squad - whose top two scorers are freshman - are headed in the right direction.

"In the first 7 minutes of the game we ran the offense and played defense then fell off defensively," she said. "Florida State plays physical ball and that got the team off-rhythm."

ASU started quickly as freshman shooter Erica Lumpkin drilled a 3-pointer to begin the game and Shanice Merritt followed with a short jumper.

At the 10 minute-mark, the Lady Hornets were hanging tough, down only 14-9.

However, with definitive size and experience advantages across the board, the Seminoles began to dominate the glass and the game. FSU closed the first half on a 25-8 run and took a 39-17 lead into locker room.

Unfortunately, the Lady Hornets would never get any closer as turnovers allowed the Seminoles to build an insurmountable lead.

For the game, ASU committed a season-high 30 turnovers, which FSU converted into 39 points.

The Lady Hornets were also out rebounded 51-30.

Lumpkin's 19 points led ASU.

The Lady Hornets travel to face Coastal Carolina in Myrtle Beach this Thursday night at 7 p.m.
