Hornets Fall to Kennesaw on the Diamond

March 1, 2007

Final Stats

Montgomery, Ala. - Alabama State, playing its first home game in almost three weeks, fell to Kennesaw State 12-0 Wednesday afternoon at Paterson Field. The Hornets' offense struggled as the KSU pitchers prevented ASU from ever getting a runner past second base.

The Owls didn't face the same challenges after they got to ASU starter Corey Washington in the second inning. After getting the first two KSU batters, Washington walked and four straight hits later, the Hornets were down 4-0.

Kennesaw added four more runs in the third, one in the fourth and three more in the fifth.

Kyle Muschara (2-0) went five shutout innings to get the win. Jace Whitmer carried the biggest stick for the Owls (5-5), going 3-4 with 3 RBI including a home run.

For ASU (1-7), John Stevens and Furquan Shamsud-Din had two his each.

The Hornets open conference play hosting Alcorn State in a weekend series. First pitch Saturday is 1 p.m. at Paterson Field. Admission is free.
