Final Stats

Birmingham, Ala. - April O'Neal and Destinee Sanchez were named to the Samford Bulldog Bash All-Tournament team after strong performance during the weekend event in Birmingham.

Samford 3, Alabama State 2

In a classic pitcher's duel, Alabama State fell to Bulldog Bash host Samford 3-2.

ASU's Destinee Sanchez and SU's Amanda Barr were dominant early.

The Bulldogs finally broke through in the third inning when they scratched out a run/ Kylie Harmon singled and stole second and third before scoring on the catcher's throwing error.

Samford picked up two more runs in the fourth.

Sanchez got the first two Bulldogs before Emily Deaux singled. Two more singles scored Deaux. Brittany Simao, who had singled earlier, scored on a Lady Hornet's error.

ASU rallied in the top of the seventh.

After Barr got the first two Lady Hornets out. Sanchez helped her own cause by doubling to left field. Smith hit a huge home run, scoring her and Sanchez.

Samford changed pitchers and Susanna Myers got the last out, securing Samford's win.

Sanchez and Smith each had two hits for the Lady Hornets.
