Final Stats

In their most important series of the season, Alabama State took two games out three against Jackson State over the weekend. The Lady Hornets won the first game 5-3, before falling 6-1. In the deciding game, ASU hammered JSU 9-1.
The series win pulled the Lady Hornets within one game of third place, and one game out of the final spot in the SWAC tournament.
Game One
ASU 5, JSU 3
Whitney Valentine got the Lady Hornets off to a great start when she smashed a two-run homer in the bottom of the second inning.
Jackson State responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the third.
The Lady Hornets would answer in the top of the third. April O'Neal singled, moving Cami Cunningham to second. Destinee Sanchez walked to load the bases. Valentine came through with her second big hit of the game, a single that brought home O'Neal and Cunningham.
JSU drew within one with an RBI flyout in the fourth inning.
Alabama State picked up an insurance run on O'Neal's second home run of the season.
Game Two
JSU 6, ASU 1
The second game of the series was all Jackson State as Jessica Villegas allowed only one run and three hits over seven innings.
The Lady Hornets only run came on a Destinee Sanchez home run.
Game Three
ASU 9, JSU 1
Jackson State grabbed the early lead when Amanda Boggan scored on a wild pitch. However, that would be the Lady Tigers only run of the game as ASU's Whitney Valentine and Destinee Sanchez combined to allow only four hits in the entire game.
The Lady Hornet offense got going in the top of the third. April O'Neal doubled home Mikhail Knox and Nicole Zarate. After Destinee Sanchez walked, Whitney Valentine's single drove O'Neal home.
In the fourth, Zarate doubled home Curry giving ASU a 4-1 lead.
ASU blew the game open with four runs in the sixth inning.
Zarate's second double of the game brought in Knox. O'Neal reached first on an error that also allowed Zarate to score. Sanchez singled home Cami Cunningham and Valentine followed with her own RBI single, scoring O'Neal.
Pamely Curry scored the final run of the game, stealing two bases after earning a walk.
Sanchez earned the win.
