NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Alabama State University men's basketball team concludes its season opening road set Saturday at 7:15 p.m., against Belmont University in the Curb Event Center.
The Hornets seek their first win following a tough 90-53 loss at Ole Miss this past Monday in the season opener. Senior
Menji Mundadi scored 13 points to lead ASU against the Rebels.
Belmont, who will be playing its home opener, posted a 1-2 mark last weekend at the Athletes in Action Classic in Seattle, Wash. The Bruins topped Portland State (74-67) in their opener before dropping games to Washington (96-78) and Wright State (82-73). A quartet of players averages double digits for Belmont led by Ian Clark at 14 points per game.
The game marks the first meeting on the hardwood between Alabama State and Belmont. Recently, both programs have enjoyed success at the mid-major level with each team participating in postseason play the past few years. Last season, ASU earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament while BU played in the inaugural CIT event.
Following Saturday's tilt, Alabama State returns to the Acadome for its home opener against Columbus State on Nov. 24. It marks the Hornets lone home appearance of their first eight contests.
