Montgomery – Kim Davis scored13 points, grabbed two rebounds, blocked a shot, and had one steal, but it wasn't enough to give Alabama State a win. Prairie View A&M dominated the Lady Hornets 78-41 Saturday at the ASU Acadome.

Prairie View collected 14 steals and caused ASU to turn over the ball 33 times as they collected their 14th win Southwestern Athletic Conference win against a single loss.

“Turnovers were costly mistakes that really took us out of the game,” said ASU Head Coach Freda Jackson.  “After L'Teisha Holloway got two fouls early in the game, she only played eight minutes, which also hurt us. L'Teisha is our go-to person on the floor and we just couldn't get it together to at least stay in the contest with Prairie View.”

Alabama State fell to a 12-14 overall record and 9-6 in the conference.

Shanice Merritt added seven points and four rebounds for the Lady Hornets. Raven Hicks and Tanika Jackson had four points each. Jackson had six rebounds and Hicks had four.

Candace Thomas was the leading scorer for the Panthers with 17 points, five steals and two rebounds.
Gatti Wrema and Robin Jones each had 1points and three rebounds. Wrema had two big blocks and one steal to spark the Panthers to victory.

The Lady Hornets will host the Tigers of Texas Southern on Monday, March 2, at the ASU Acadome. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
