MONTGOMERY-- The Alabama State Lady Hornets will open the 2010-11 season on Friday at Florida State University, who is ranked 14th nationally. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. central time at Donald L. Tucker Center in Tallahassee, Fla.
The Lady Hornets are coming off of a win in an exhibition match against cross town rival Faulkner University defeating them 97-81. Last season the Lady Hornets finished its season facing Southern University in the 2010 SWAC Championship falling 60-47. Alabama State have nine letterwinners from the 2009-10 team that finished 13-17 overall, including 8-10 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
The Seminoles are currently riding a 10-game winning streak in Tallahassee, which dates back to last season. FSU has been dominate in season-openers for nearly 20 years as the Noles are a perfect 13-0 in season-openers under coach Sue Semrau's watch and are 28-9 all-time in the first game of a new season.
The Lady Hornets and Seminoles are tied 2-2 in the series record, as Alabama State looks to take the lead in the series.
Alabama State will return home to host the University of Mobile next Tuesday, Nov, 16 at 6 p.m.
