Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions down Lady Hornets

PINE BLUFF, Ark. Tanika Jackson's 10th double-double of the season was not enough as the Alabama State University women's basketball team dropped a 70-55 decision Monday night to Arkansas-Pine Bluff at H.O. Clemmons Arena.

Jackson finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Lady Hornets. Shanice Merritt added 11 points, five rebounds and two blocks for ASU. 

Shay Holmes led the Lady Golden Lions with 19 points and nine rebounds while Lakendra Marsh chipped in 11 and Jasmine Blanks tallied 10 points.

UAPB built a seven-point lead at the 5:24 mark, but the Lady Hornets rallied to tie the score at 28-28 at the halftime break. 

Pine Bluff continued regained an advantage early in the second half and eventually opened up a 20-point lead, 67-47.

Alabama State continued to fight and chipped away at Lady Golden Lions lead in the final minutes of the game..

Alabama State's next appearance on the hardwood comes Saturday at 4 p.m. against Alabama A&M, in Huntsville, Ala.
