The Alabama State women's basketball team will play host to Samford University Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m. at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.
“I am really excited about playing our first game at home against Samford,” stated Head Women's Basketball Coach
Freda Freeman-Jackson. “With Samford being a school in Alabama which is one that we have to compete against for players, we are excited with this opportunity to play in front of our fans. I know our freshmen are eager and ready to play, considering that this will be our first official game in the Dunn-Oliver Acadome and they are ready to play in our home atmosphere.”
This will be the home opener for the Lady Hornets. Alabama State is coming off of a 97-37 loss at Georgia Tech Friday night in the season opener for the Lady Hornets. Samford will be entering the contest with a 1-1 record after having lost to DePaul and picking up a win against Montana last weekend in the Maggie Dixon Classic hosted by DePaul.
Wednesday's match will only be the seventh game between the two schools with Samford holding the series 4-2. The last time Alabama State faced the Bulldogs, Samford defeated the Lady Hornets 71-55 in Birmingham during the 2010-11 season.
