The Lady Hornets basketball team will play host to intra-state school Troy Thursday, December 15, at 6 p.m. in Dunn-Oliver Acadome.
“I'm real excited about Troy coming to the Dunn-Oliver Acadome tomorrow night,” stated
Freda Freeman-Jackson Head Women's Basketball Coach. “They are on the same level as we are, and we know that it's going to be a task playing against them. Troy's style of play is almost similar to Samford's, so since we have already played Samford we should be well prepared to play Troy. Their style of playing is an international type of ball, they love to penetrate and kick the ball out, as well as shooting the 3-ball which they do pretty good. They are a good size team and most of their post players can even shoot the three. We know that we will have our work cut out for us.”
Alabama State currently holds a 6-5 lead in the series between the two schools. The Lady Hornets have won the last two contests, the last one coming on December 13, 2000 when Alabama State defeated Troy 81-71.
ASU enters the game with an overall record of 2-3. Most recently, the Lady Hornets were defeated by LSU on the road, 35-67.
