ASU Men Look for Fifth Straight

Lorman, Ms. – The Alabama State men's basketball team closes their road trip at Alcorn State.  The Hornets look to make it five in a row after Monday night's contest with the Braves. 

Alabama State (10-16, 7-6) overpowered Southern University 63-50 Saturday in Baton Rouge.  Alcorn State (3-21, 3-11) enters having loss its last four games. The Braves fell at home to Alabama A&M 70-68.

Since losing three in a row in early January, the Hornets are winners of its last five out of seven games.  Lately, ASU has been able to get it done on defense.  They are near the top in three different statistical categories in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. 

Alabama State is ranked second in the league in blocked shots per game with 4.5.  In scoring defense, ASU is giving up 65 points per contest which is third best in the SWAC.  They are also ranked second in the conference in field goal percentage defense.  The opposition is only shooting 41% from the field against ASU.

Tip-off tonight from Alcorn State is set for 7:30 pm.
