Basketball Set To Host Mobile

The Alabama State women's basketball team will host the University of Mobile, Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.

The Lady Hornets will return to the Acadome after spending time on the road in Georgia.  Alabama State picked up two losses falling to Mercer 65-55 and to Savannah State 48-60.

Junior Quentori Alford led the charge of the two game road trip tallying 23 points, 20 rebounds and four blocks in the losses.  Sophomore Ashley Jones did her do adding 21 points and 12 rebounds of her own.

The Lady Hornets are always excited about getting back to the Dunn-Oliver Acadome to play on their own court.

“We are always excited to be at home playing in front of our home crowd,” said head coach Freda Freeman-Jackson.  “We had great momentum during our last home game, but it just wasn't enough to pull out the win.  We have to continue working hard to get things going in the right direction.  By it being so close to Christmas I know it's hard for the girls to focus, but we have got come in here tomorrow and get it done.”

“I always look forward to playing Mobile, because they are very competitive and they are quick.  They have a lot of talent on their team as well.  We are most definitely going to have to stay a step ahead of them the whole game and keep them from getting ahead of us.  We are going to play defense and defense is what we will do.”

The Rams will be entering tomorrow's contest 7-6 overall and 2-2 in the SSAC.  They are being led by Deonica McCormick, who is averaging 16.1 points per game.  Briana Edwards leads the Rams in rebounding 6.6 rebounds per contest.
