Box Score Alabama State concluded its 2011-12 season with a 62-35 defeat at the hands of Prairie View A&M University Panthers in the quarterfinal round of the SWAC tournament from the Special Events Center in Garland, Texas. The Lady Hornets finished 14-14 on the season.
“This was a game that we knew that we were going to have to see Letia Williams,” said Women's Head Coach
Freda Freeman-Jackson. “Williams is one of Prairie Views best player and she shows it. She had some help from JaQuandria Williams who did a number on us as well. We just didn't play defense like we should have nor did we run our offense. Prairie View did a good job tonight, we just didn't defend the ball like we should have.”

Erica Henderson finished with five points to add to the Lady Hornets loss.
The Lady Hornets shot 23.6 percent from the field and hit just 3-14 from the three-point range. Prairie View shot 38.0 percent and outrebounded Alabama State by 13 (45-32).
Alabama State held a seven point lead with 12:07 left in first half. Prairie View soon cut ASU's lead to one as both teams went back and forth with the Panthers taking its lead with 44 seconds left in the half. Alabama State went into the half down by three 20-17 in favor of the Panthers.
Alabama State came out cold and Prairie View came out on a 12-0 run to start the second half. The Panthers built up a 13 point lead on two occasions with less the 10 minutes left in the half. Alabama State became lax in their defense and let the Panthers take its largest lead of 28 points at the 1:42 mark (60-32). The Panthers went on to close out the game 62-35 over the Lady Hornets.
